Window cleaning was originally a service that I’d never considered doing and if it wasn’t due to a friend who had window cleaned successfully for many years would certainly never have been my first choice.

After leaving school at 16, I worked initially for a local generator company for 18 months in sales, learning the ropes of business and its pitfalls before moving on to work in our father’s business, wholesaling and retailing footwear, largely to the agricultural sector. This we expanded on over the next five years until farming went into meltdown, first with the BSE crisis, then with foot and mouth, farming became difficult, our outlets began shutting down in favour of selling off land for development and it was mutually decided that I should go my own separate way. |
| Regularly sparkle cleaning their showhomes on fortnightly basis quickly established us as a company that could deliver and sustain contracts over a large period of time, providing quality and reliability and proudly seeing every single contract through to a final and development complete finale. During this period we began to establish and grow a strong residential based business that began to grow and so it became necessary to begin employing staff, soon, both of my brothers’ Andrew and Chris joined the business. Eventually as the surrounding areas began to continue to grow both Andrew and Chris began establishing their own businesses, independent from Capstone but part of a family enterprise and both North Star Professional Window Cleaning Contracts and Chris Storey Window Cleaning Contracts were born. Capstone continued to manage the portfolio of residential clients up until 2005, when, due to new recommendations from the Health and Safety Executive it was conclusive that it would be both visionary and advisable to change our method of cleaning from the ladder system to the ladderless system and Capstone became the first company in the district to bring out new technology to our custom base. Since then Capstone have continued to invest in the constant updating and management of our systems whilst realising the potential of commercial and industrial work that the water fed pole brings to our industry. |

It’s been an ever changing journey from humble beginnings with a sponge and plastic squeegee (how ever did I manage with this system I don’t know looking back), to the state of the art water fed pole technology but window cleaning has been my life for the past 12 years and will continue to be so for many years to come. Inspiration often comes from other sources and I am pleased I was committed and determined enough to act upon good advice back in 1996, the year Capstone Professional Cleaning Contracts Ltd, was conceived.
